Juventus is planning to strengthen its midfield this summer, focusing on names such as Sandro Tonali and Kevin De Bruyne. Bringing in Tonali, a former Milan player, has been a priority for the Turin-based club since the winter transfer window. However, completing the deal will be challenging due to his high valuation and the attention he’s receiving from several Premier League clubs. As for De Bruyne, Juventus has made inquiries about the Belgian’s availability, though Napoli currently appears to be the frontrunner in the race for his signature.
Regardless of the outcome of these efforts, Juventus is clearly signalling its intent to make bold moves in midfield. Any new addition would also require the club to evaluate the future of its current midfielders. Players expected to remain in the squad for the next season include Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, and Weston McKennie. McKennie, in particular, is close to g a new deal, while Thuram and Locatelli have contracts running until 2028 and 2029, respectively.
Teun Koopmeiners, who fell short of expectations last season, is set to be given another opportunity to prove his worth. Juventus is reluctant to consider his sale after just one season, as this could result in considerable financial losses following his transfer from Atalanta.
Meanwhile, Douglas Luiz finds himself in a different situation. The Brazilian midfielder has struggled to secure a place in the lineup, and the coaching staff does not see a role for him within their tactical system.
Juventus hopes to finalise his transfer to the Premier League for a sum that minimises financial losses as much as possible.
On a separate note, the midfielders who are currently on loan to other clubs also demand attention. Nicolo Rovella is on the verge of becoming a Lazio player, Nicolo Fagioli has the possibility of permanently ing Fiorentina, and Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is set to move to Venezia. Fabio Miretti is returning from his loan spell at Genoa, while Arthur Melo will conclude his time at Girona and head back to Turin to decide on his future plans.
